Robbery (Home Invasion) on Lambeth Rd.

The following report was received from one of our neighbours about a home invasion on Lambeth Road in Humber Valley Village:
“A very good friend of mine had her home broken into last night on Lambeth Road in Humber Valley Village. She was away for the weekend with her family but her nanny was at the home asleep in her room when the person broke in at around 5:30 am.

The nanny woke up to the sound of the man rifling through boxes outside her bedroom door (they had just moved into the home) and waited until she heard him go to another floor before using her cell phone to call police. He heard the phone call being made anyway and came into her bedroom, put a screwdriver to her face and asked her not to look at him but to look at the wall instead. He asked if she was on the phone with 911. She said she was and he ordered her to end the call. She pleaded with the man not to hurt her. Fortunately, he then fled the home.

Police arrived on scene shortly thereafter and a forensics team was able to get a partial description of the man as well as fingerprints. The man had first attempted to enter through a door into the garage but was unsuccessful. He then broke the glass on another door in the home and was able to unlock the door from the inside.

These incidents have increased in frequency in the neighbourhood to an alarming rate. We all need to be more careful and to do what we can to keep this problem from escalating even further.”
