Update: Homicide near Princess Margaret Blvd. / The Kingsway


Please note, the Toronto Police Service have released security footage and are appealing for the public’s assistance in identifying an individual in connection to a homicide which took place near Princess Margaret Blvd. and The Kingsway on Wednesday, January 20, 2016.

During the Police briefing, the following details were reported:
  • The victim arrived home and parked in his garage at approximately 6:20 pm
  • Between 30-60 seconds later, a lone individual is seen approaching the open garage from the direction of the intersection at Princess Margaret Blvd. and The Kingsway carrying a weapon
  • The same individual is seen leaving the garage 8 seconds later in the direction of the same intersection (at which there is an all-way stop)
  • During this time, 8 vehicles can be seen passing by the home

The video seems to suggest that the individual was waiting for the victim, was familiar with the victim’s routine and may have been loitering in the area days before the incident took place.

It was not disclosed whether the Police believe the individual had been waiting for the victim on their own, or whether they were waiting with other individuals.

It was also noted during the briefing that while the individual’s coat may appear light-coloured in the video, that does not necessarily mean the individual was wearing a light-coloured coat, some security cameras can alter the appearance of coloured clothing in low light.

Please note, a fatal shooting has been reported near Princess Margaret Blvd. and The Kingsway.

Police were called to the area at 6:24 pm on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 due to reports of gunshots. When the Police arrived, the victim was found in his garage. The homicide unit has taken over the investigation.

Police are appealing to anyone in the area who may have seen or heard anything, as well as anyone who may have home security camera footage from the area of the shooting. Police are also specifically appealing to those citizens who stopped to assist the victim at the time of the shooting. We ask that you contact Toronto Police Homicide.
