Over 200 Firearms and Ammunition Seized near Royal York Rd. / Bloor St. West

Please note, the Toronto Police have charged a man with numerous offences related to the careless storage of firearms and ammunition near Royal York Rd. and Bloor St. West, please see the news release below from September 14, 2016:
The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest and a significant seizure of firearms and ammunition.

It is alleged that:
  • on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at approximately 4:30 pm, police responded to a home in the Bloor Street West / Royal York Road area for an alarm call
  • police found the home to be insecure, and entered
  • officers did not find any signs of a break and enter, but found a significant number of firearms, which were not stored properly
  • the officers secured the home to apply for a search warrant

It is further alleged that:
  • later that night, officers executed the search warrant
  • over 200 firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition were seized

The 20-year-old resident was arrested and charged with numerous careless-storage-type offences.

The Toronto Police Service would like to remind licenced firearm holders to follow the regulations governing safe storage.
