Original Report

This report comes to us via the Toronto Police web site:
Investigators have released surveillance footage supplied by area residents of a person of interest wanted in connection with a series of break-and-enters and sexual assaults in an Etobicoke neighbourhood.

In the early morning hours of July 7, a man entered four homes in the Berry Rd. and Parklawn Rd. area while residents were asleep, sexually assaulting a woman in the process.

Police believe the same person is responsible for several break-and-enters and sexual assaults in the same neighbourhood last September.

“Based on the geographic profile, the time period when these crimes were committed, the description of the suspect, the method of the execution of these crimes and the similarities in the property that were taken from the targeted homes, investigators have established that the culpability of the crimes involve the same person,” said Det. Const. Thomas Ueberholz of the Sex Crimes Unit at a press conference at police headquarters on July 10.

On September 18, 2012, six homes were burglarized in the same area. Ueberholz said that, based on descriptions provided by witnesses of the suspect’s appearance and actions, they have assessed that the suspect is a man with a dark complexion – not excluding olive skin – and he’s between 5’ 8” and six feet in height with a thin build.

“He’s presumed to be a young male between his late teens and 30 years of age and he has demonstrated athletic ability, flexibility, agility and speed in the commission of his offences and his escape,” Ueberholz added. “The suspect’s appearance is obscured through a make-shift mask, utilising pieces of cloth or clothing.”
