Man Charged with Sexual Assault near Royal York Rd / Bloor St. West

Please note, the Toronto Police have charged a man with Sexual Assault near Royal York Rd. and Bloor St. West, please see the news release below from September 22, 2016:
The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest in a Sexual Assault investigation.

On Thursday, September 22, 2016, at 8:34 a.m., officers responded to a call for a Sexual Assault on a TTC bus in the Royal York Road and Bloor Street West area.

It is alleged that:
  • a girl, 17, was on the TTC bus with her sister
  • the bus was not crowded
  • a man boarded the bus and sat next to the girl
  • he sexually assaulted the girl
  • he then performed an indecent act

When the bus pulled into Royal York station, officers arrested a man. Yi Chul Chung, 78, of Toronto, is charged with:
  1. two counts of Sexual Assault
  2. Indecent Act

It is further alleged that he may be responsible for another sexual assault, on the same bus line, in May 2016.

Police are concerned there may be other victims.
