Rising Number of Vehicle Thefts and Thefts from Vehicles

Please note, we have seen a sharp increase in the number or Vehicle Thefts and Thefts from Vehicles in the past week.

Please remember to always lock your vehicles and keep the windows closed. If possible, it is safest to park your vehicles in your garage and out of sight.

If you do park your vehicles outside, please hide all valuables out of sight including garage door openers, sunglasses, bags, loose change, etc. Most vehicle break-ins are crimes of opportunity and thieves have been known to steal items as innocuous as loose change or highway transponders.

For more information on minimizing the risk of your vehicle being stolen or broken into, please refer to the Toronto Police website on Crime Prevention and Community Safety (Auto Theft).

If you have seen or heard anything suspicious, please contact the Police.
If you see a crime in progress, please call 9-1-1 immediately.
