Update: Shooting near Longfield Ave. / Richdale Ct. [Photo Released]

Please note, a Canada-wide warrant has been issued for the arrest of the man suspected responsible for the shooting near Longfield Ave / Richdale Ct. in the Princess Margaret area on May 7, 2018.

On Monday, May 7, 2018, at 11:55 am, officers received a call for a personal injury collision in the Kipling Avenue / Longfield Road area.

It was determined at the scene that the man driving had sustained what were believed to be gunshot wounds.

He was taken to hospital.

On Thursday, May 10, 2018, the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead in hospital.

The victim has been identified as Christopher Reid, 38, of Toronto.

On Friday, May 11, 2018, Homicide Detective Leslie Dunkley updated the media on the investigation into Homicide #29/2018.

Homicide investigators were interested in identifying the suspect vehicle as well as anyone in possession or associated to the suspect vehicle. Investigators believed the vehicle was a white, four-door, 2008 or newer model BMW X6. To view the security camera video of the suspect vehicle released, click here.

On Friday, November 2, 2018, a Canada-wide warrant was issued for the arrest of Richie Blackwood, 43, of Toronto.

He is wanted for Second Degree Murder

Description: He is described as 5'8", 160 lbs., medium build, and has a large mole on the tip of his nose. He has a tattoo on his left shoulder with the words “blood line famous money” and an image of a diamond, as well as a tattoo on his left forearm of an image of flowers. He may also use the following aliases:

  • Anthony White 
  • Randy Richards 
  • Jason Michael Carter 
  • Stitch Blackwood 

Police have allegedly recovered a vehicle associated to the homicide.

An image of the wanted man has been released.

Please note, there was a shooting incident which took place near Longfield Ave. / Richdale Ct. in the Princess Margaret area on Monday, May 7, 2018 at approximately 11:00 am.

Initially, the victim’s vehicle was found on the front lawn of a home on Longfield Ave. Police and Paramedics responded to the scene and the victim was taken to hospital with what Police described as injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. The victim has since succumbed to his injuries and the incident is now being treated as a homicide.

Today, Police released a description of the suspect’s vehicle as well as a description of what they believe to have happened:

  • The suspect’s vehicle (a white 4-door BMW X6, 2008 or newer) and the victim’s vehicle (a black 4-door Hyndai Elantra) were both seen in the area of HWY 427 and Eglinton Ave. West.
  • Both vehicles turned onto Longfield Ave. via Lloyd Manor Rd., with the victim’s vehicle travelling behind the suspect’s vehicle at around 11:50 am.
  • On Longfield Ave., the victim’s vehicle pulled up next to the driver’s side of the suspect’s vehicle with the passenger window rolled down.
  • Shots were fired from the suspect’s vehicle into the victim’s vehicle, causing the victim’s vehicle to end up on the front lawn of a home on Longfield Ave.
  • The suspect’s vehicle was then seen leaving the area via Kipling Ave.

The Toronto Police have released video footage of both vehicles before and after the incident, and are asking for the public’s help with any information that may be helpful to their investigation.
